7.0 Earthquake Devastates Haiti

Latin America ChildCare has schools and families that have been impacted by the powerful earthquake that struck Haiti on Tuesday afternoon and destroyed most of the capital city of Port-au-Prince.  A top envoy called the situation a "major catastrophe" and the U.S. State Department has been told to expect “serious loss of life” according to spokesman P.J. Crowley.  The Red Cross has estimated that about 3 million people –one-third of Haiti’s population – have been affected by the quake.

We are doing our best to get aid to the people of Haiti but we desperately need your help.  We fully anticipate to receive requests from our missionaries in Haiti to help with the relief efforts as further damage is assessed.  We are looking not only to offer short-term disaster response but we would like to offer long-term assistance in the rebuilding efforts as well.

Here’s how you can help:

  1. Please pray for the children and their families along with all of the teachers and other workers in our LACC schools.

  1. We need to expedite funds to the field as soon as possible.  Would you consider giving a generous gift today?
